The Strafford County Sheriff’s Office Transportation section is
responsible for transportation to over one
hundred different locations throughout New England. These services are provided
to our local District Courts,
Superior Court and Probate Court. We also transport all committals of
Involuntary Emergency Admissions
(IEA). Most times these services are performed under very difficult weather
conditions.
The Transportation Division is also responsible for transporting inmates that
are housed at the Strafford
County House of Corrections who require medical services of a doctor, a dentist,
or overnight local
hospital stays.
In addition, juvenile transportation and security is another responsibility and
is an area of great concern that
mandates special consideration and proper handling pursuant to our juvenile
laws. The transportation section
carries a great responsibility in this respect.
