A primary use of the Strafford County Sheriff’s Office motorcycle is to assist in monitoring traffic and provide increased visibility in towns within the county in cooperation with and at the express invitation of local police chiefs.

uniformed patrols within the county, it does lend a tremendous amount of support to its local police departments, especially those with limited and fixed staffs. Sheriff Estes wanted but another tool in his service orientated approach toward helping out whenever and wherever asked. Many towns in Strafford County have manpower shortages during emergencies, public events, and planned crime prevention or traffic enforcement programs. His being able to provide a motorcycle deputy for visibility, assistance, and support was the focus of his assigning Deputy DiGregorio to this important liaison assistance project. Deputy DiGregorio was an expert rider, experienced law enforcement officer who knew the people and geography of the county, and his personal dedication to serve whenever asked were the attributes Sheriff Estes wished to share with his fellow police chiefs and their citizens.
    Deputy DiGregorio was given the authority to negotiate with Seacoast Harley Davidson of North Hampton, (NH), who is an authorized dealer specializing in law

enforcement motorcycles. Joe’s experience and familiarity with the owners and sales staff at Seacoast Harley Davidson enabled him to quickly arrive at a lease agreement favorable to the interests of Strafford County and his department.

A fully "dressed" 1450 cc Harley was the end product of Deputy DiGregiorio’s efforts. It is now in use within the county and has been used in the near recent past at several public events including Governor Craig Benson’s visit to the è
