construction  site of the new Strafford County House of Correction. Sheriff Estes has announced to the Chiefs of Police in his county the availability of his motorcycle unit for their use at functions of their choosing. His policy is that the agency has to make a request for the presence and participation of the motorcycle, he does not assign the unit and operating deputy without the express consent and knowledge of the city or town’s top law enforcement officer. Requests coming from other public safety agencies, town officials, civic groups and city or town fathers are not honored without the request being authorized by the Chief of Police. enforcement tool has been favorably received by the

Strafford County Commissioners, due in part that the addition of a motorcycle to the Sheriff’s Office has not impacted in any negative way budget or manpower wise. Sheriff Estes will continue to evaluate the effectiveness and rational of having a motorcycle in his fleet based upon the demand for its presence throughout the county. Its initial use and presence has been most encouraging and the feed back from his fellow law enforcement counterparts, the County administrators, and the general public has been overwhelmingly favorable, especially dealing with educating the citizens of proper crime prevention and safety programs.   q
